SWE@SG Hosts its 1st Internship Day

on 11th March 2022 in collaboration with AWS, AMD, BD, HP, Micron and IBM as well as SWE Student Chapters in NUS, NTU, SUTD and SIT. Led by Micron. the program aims to create greater awareness for women STEM students to learn from successful women engineers and technologist across various industries and their vital contribution to science and engineering. It also aims to promote internship opportunities that will help students to gain industry exposure and learn about the supportive environment available in companies to enable women to succeed in their STEM aspirations. More than 140 participants joined the event and engaged in a lively, authentic conversation with the our STEM panelists from diverse backgrounds and industry sectors.

During the session, our female leaders, Annie Chan (Vice President BD Biosciences), Jacqueline Chua (Director, HP) and Adeline Tay (Senior Director, Micron) shared their personal experiences and inspiring stories on how they broke boundaries in their journey in STEM. We also had ex-Interns from AMD and Micron share their experiences as an Intern and how it has better prepared them for a career in their respective companies. To close off the session, we had a networking session for students to interact with company representatives to learn more about the various opportunities each company had to offer. We look forward to providing more such opportunities for women students in STEM to be encouraged to pursue their STEM aspirations!
